Be Successful Selling Avon


Part of being an Avon Sales Representative means that you have to work your business AROUND your busy lifestyle. Many people who start selling Avon get discouraged when they do not notice instant results and money rolling in. So why is it that some Avon reps are not as successful? The fact of the matter is that some Avon Reps lack the motivation needed to turn an inexpensive business into a full blown MONEY MAKER. 

That being said, here are 6 easy steps you can follow to help YOU become a successful Avon Sales Rep.

1) Don’t spend all of your profits on product for yourself.

This is important since many Avon representatives might fall into the idea of “Know your products so you can sell them.” However, you need to have a rookie mentality FIRST. To make some SERIOUS money with Avon you need to treat it like a business. NOT a HOBBY. (Not saying those that do it just as a hobby is a bad thing by the way. Some prefer it that way and that is okay too!) Focus on only what you need to build your business first. That’s the brochures. Don’t invest heavily in samples or at all if you are tight on a budget. Just the brochures are all you need. The more you get those in the hands of others, the faster you will see your earnings increase. 

2) Publish a newsletter or make an Avon blog.

This can be something VERY useful toward your business. Keep your customers informed about the latest trends, talk about your personal experiences with Avon products, or post handy tips on how customers can use certain cosmetics. 

3) Approach local businesses or stores in your area. 

This is also a great method in building your business. Women who work in offices wear cosmetics every day, but sometimes have seldom time to buy them. That’s where YOU, the AVON LADY/MAN comes in! Drop a stack of brochures off with them, or offer incentives to encourage people to buy from you. (Example: Free gifts or discounts with first time customers). Return each week to offer samples, and leave more brochures

4) Personalize each of your brochures.

The best way to do this is put labels or sticky notes on your brochures informing customers about product suggestions that are tailored to their specific needs. KNOW your customers. Keep a database of what your regular customers order so that you can follow up with them and see if they need to restock on some of their favorite Avon products.

5) Send special thank you notes.

Your customers are valuable and important to you. So show them some appreciation by including a “Thank You” card in with their order. You may even want to add a sample or two for them to try. This is a great way to make your customers feel like they are really being taken care of. 

6) Be informed and enthusiastic.

KNOW your products by keeping up with the latest cosmetic trends. Make sure customers are up-to-date on the latest skincare or mascara that is out. Also be prepared to show your customers how to use said products if you ever are given the chance. LOVE what you do! You are in this to make money and if you are enthusiastic about it, then that will be contagious for your customers.
